Hi GH fam! After 3 years...we're back!
So much has changed since I last sat behind this microphone. In this episode, I'm sharing the story of how God originally asked me to start this podcast, why I stepped away for a season, and why I know it's time to begin again.
We'll talk about obedience, growth, hearing God's voice, what's changed in my life, what's coming next, and why I believe these conversations matter now more than ever. Whether you've been here from the beginning or this is your very first episode... welcome. I'm so grateful you're here.
We are grateful for what God has done, and we're hungry for what He still wants to do.

Jordan (00:01)
Hi! my gracious, we are back! We are back after years! some of you are probably listening for the first time. So hey, welcome. I'm Jordan. I am the Gratefully Hungry podcast host. I'm really excited to have you here checking this out. I think this episode will give you such a an insight to who I am and what my heart is for this and what's to come from here forward and
if you're a listener that's been hanging out and following along for the last five, six years, first off, thank you. it it really is this place is for the Lord. but from my heart, thanks for being here and supporting it. I gosh, when I think back to getting the initial prompt to start a podcast, the hindsight and the me telling you.
What to expect and all the things in this episode is gonna give a lot of perspective to where we're going here. But I was so crystal clear that that was what I was supposed to do. I mean, I feel like it was one of the most clear messages God has ever given me in my whole life was to start this podcast. Maybe the most clear, honestly. So even though I did not have a podcasting background.
I didn't, I'm really not the most techie person. I had l a lot of like, where do I start? I mean, I literally went on Amazon, bought the microphone I'm using right now. And at the I at the time, this is again, you know, six years ago, to like like round COVID times, I'd say 2021 maybe is when we officially launched it. Maybe I was doing some of the legwork in 2020. But
Podcasting, it was just not what it is now. Like it was such a more sophisticated, rigid thing. It wasn't like you just, you know, record on your phone and take people along for your life. It I I wanted it to be professional. I cared so much about like if I'm gonna do this, I wanna give it my best. I remember going to Pinterest and like printing out like kind of how to begin, I guess. I bought the microphone.
And at the time I was a part of a networking group and that networking group would like keep me in the loop with what other networking opportunities were happening locally. And so I went to this one I I didn't really go to a lot of extra events though. I went to like my group of people that, you know, we met at the same time, same frequency. I had real relationships with them. I didn't really do a ton outside of that. So it's really even wild and a god thing that I
heard about this event through this networking event, go to it. It was at a place I just typically wouldn't have gone to. primarily my business outside like, you know, I'm doing this, but outside of this, I have a full life, a family, I'm expecting a baby. We'll get to all the good things and updates here in a minute. But at the time, it's just really odd that I would have even gone to this event, if I'm honest, because the industry I work within
is primarily women. And this event was gonna have it's just a very co-ed event, the the location that it was held. It's just not somewhere I typically would have gone to do networking or put my time into. And but I went, but I went. And so I met this guy there. His name is Tyler and shout out to Tyler. he at the time was graduating out
From with mark with a marketing degree from our local college. And I could just tell he was very professional. me and him have a lot in common in the sense that I I think we're just a little wise beyond our years. Like I when I met him, I had no idea that he was even around college graduate age because he just carries himself a lot more maturely. But I was talking with him and we were talking about some branding and different things that he offers with his business, and
I think from that I had booked him and a team that he was connected to for a video like a video event to do some recording for me business wise and it was like within the editing of that video that he was like, Yeah, and I launched podcast. And I I was like, What? Like you do, and he we were just like talking about, you know, this being born and he's like
Yeah, like this this is something I do, Jordan. You should let me help you. And it was the perfect timing. I feel like I had fiddled fiddled with it. I had read about it. I had bought the microphone. you know, I I knew I was gonna do it. I had all the intention behind it, but there was something about God just putting him in a path and being like, I will help you get this off the ground. That I'm I'm like, I can't say no. Like this is this is like
Okay, God, like you can't really make it any more obvious than than that. so so that you know the journey of Gratefully Hungry kicked off and I I would go to a recording studio. I'll, you know, share this now, but financially I invested a good bit into getting it going because I really am not the most techie gal.
Nor do I really want to learn it. I I have a full plate, full life, and so it if I'm gonna learn a skill, this just wasn't the one that I really wanted to learn. I wanted somebody else to just, you know, manage and help. And so, anyways, things have changed a lot because that's been six years ago and I wanted this to be so professional. So like just again, giving it my best. And podcasts have just really changed. The the
idea of a podcast now is more so like you hit record and you go. And so I'm not at a recording studio when I'm making this. I'm at my house. I don't know that I'll always be at my house. I feel like when I have some guest speakers on and whatnot, I can take it on the road with me and I'm I'm really just open. I'm open to to whatever the Lord wants to do from here forward with it. But I will say that there is just a calmness that I have now that I did not have then.
And that makes me so excited for current times and future of what's gonna be born here because I think while I was very surrendered and just following the Lord's prompting, I think there was a part of me that just i it mattered that it was done well. It mattered that I was giving it my best, like I'm saying, and so we didn't edit, I've never edited an episode, I've never like cut anything out.
Or anything like that. In fact, now looking back, I have re-listened to some of my episodes and I'm like, wow, like that really wasn't that good. I've I I even have toyed with the idea of pulling some of them. but I'm not, I'm not. I'm like, that's what God gave me, and I've I have seen God work through this podcast in ways I never would have thought, I never would have imagined. If I'm being honest with you guys, while I hope this fuels you, while I hope it gives you just
Something to chew on and feeds your faith and stirs it up. I want you to know, honestly, this is probably more for me than ever before. Right now, I have caught myself in different seasons going back and listening to certain episodes for myself. And while some I'm like a little cringed when I listen to, others I'm really fed by. and so I know that.
A lot of times, whatever it is that we have as a gift that we have to offer, that is sometimes the exact thing that God uses as we serve and as we use it, that it actually comes back and fuels us the most. And that was not my intention at all going into it. But I can tell you that looking backwards, again, it's been almost three years, I think, since I recorded an episode. I can clearly say I was.
my best, my healthiest, my most on fire for the Lord when I was recording actively. And I had no idea that that would be a little side effect from God putting this on my heart and me being like, it's for someone, it's to serve. This is not about me, you know, like that's how I went into it. I I just feel a lot more calm though. I think something about like I always envisioned
Filming in my house. Like originally that was my plan before I met Tyler. And he's like, Why wouldn't you like want to come to the studio? Like just check it out. Give it a try. And again, no regrets. Shout out to Tyler. I needed that. I probably would have never got in the pool and you know, learned the temperature of the water and the the gravity shift and and and how to swim had it not been for that. But I for sure, for sure, for sure do not need
To be accountable to someone else's schedule and the the amount of investment that that was. I wasn't always necessarily really aligned in my faith with a lot of the people that I would be working with. And that added a lot of extra stress to recording that I'm just so grateful to shed. And you know, if God put something on my heart, I'm I'm I'm pregnant right now, again, I'll
get into the more updates and like where the podcast is gonna go here soon. But I not not really be even necessarily because of the baby, but my dog, I have a a older dog that just has got me up in the middle of the night for two years now. definitely one time a night minimum. sometimes two and has even s like we have even done three times. Like I'm just like what like how? Why?
But I would say once a week I am just up and I cannot go back to sleep. And, you know, for whatever reason, God just gives me a lot in the middle of the night. And I just love having the idea of if I feel like I want to come in here and hit record and give you something fresh, that I have the ability to do that. And I'm not worried about dressing a certain way or, you know.
The details, I it's just so much more calm already. And I think I'm gonna serve you so much better than I already have. I think that the just just for me, there was a lot of warfare that I it was unnecessary, but and and I know God has used it, is using it still, it was worth it. Maybe at some point I'll just give you guys some testimonies that have come through the podcast. It has blown my mind.
some people that have reached out to me of how it's encouraged them, what it has supported them through, people that I know that I know it was a seed planted or a part of them getting saved. some stuff honestly that's really heavy too that I would not have known going into it. But I'm so I I'm encouraged. I'm I've been blessed by it. And I love that it's timeless. That's one of my favorite things about it is God's word is timeless and a lot of the things that I record on here.
I'm like again, I myself have gone back to or just recently someone was talking to me about something and I'm like, I have an episode that I'm gonna send you. So it's become such a tool for me to give people access to what I believe is my best, what I believe is my fullest heart, and I could never do that one by one by one by one by one. If I get the opportunity to, absolutely I'm I'm for it, but this is a way to just ultimately lean into technology and
Reach more people, which there's a lot of cons to technology. There's a lot of cons to a lot of things. But if everything is how you use it, and I am intentional right now in this season of using my skills, my resources, gifts, talents, energy, using it for kingdom work. And you know, that's such a like Christian term. So if you're new here, don't don't be intimidated by
Any any lingo, I really want this to be a place that if you are a brand new believer or just like looking to grow in your faith that you feel like this is a home. This is a home for you. This is a place that's helping you get your footing. When I was in the thick of the pandemic, so this was right before I started recording the podcast, I was kind of in a more already in a more quiet season. The pandemic just like extra added to that.
And I fed my spirit. I constantly was listening to a sermon to su there there was one person in particular I like binged at the time. And it wasn't, it wasn't the person that I was obsessed with. It wasn't an idol. It was a tool and a time that God used somebody for me to really get this. And you know, this
Probably could be that for somebody who is newer in their faith. So I'm excited for that. Okay, so gosh. It's been years, it's been years. I felt the Lord's prompting to start this just so intensely, like I said. And I also felt a prompt to pause. And so what have I been doing for the last two, three years? I've grown so much. I am so much better than.
whatever version of me you got on the podcast. No regrets. She was great. She got it going. She was younger. I'd think God worked miraculously through it for people. but I I will be honest, I expect that these episodes will be sharper and more full of wisdom and just even more effective because of the growth that I've had. I have known for about a year I was gonna I I k I knew from the jump I would restart it and I would get back
at some point, but launched in the winter that it was gonna kick back off, and I think within a month found out that I was pregnant with our first baby. And so we have a little baby boy that is on the way. His name is Emmet, and we are very excited to welcome Emmet to our family. but I in the midst of finding out I was pregnant and the winter season, my sister got married. even in the spring, I've just really
Been growing so much, and that's not really relevant, or something I feel led to talk about at this time, but I have just done some digging into my life, into how I'm wired, into how I think, into how to get better, into how and in like how to show up a little bit more vulnerably, maybe is the word. yeah, so I just am like ready now.
I'm ready now. I have felt a little bit like I said I was gonna launch it and I haven't yet, but I do feel God's hand on it now. And I know that a lot of probably what I'm gonna be recording, not only do I need it in this season more than maybe ever before, and I'm gonna be fed, but I know that I'll probably look back on it like I have some of the past episodes to feed future Jordans, Faith, and anybody else that that can bless and help. I'm just so grateful for that. So
yeah, like when it comes to what to expect here, I have gone back and forth. I think this maybe even has lagged wh like why I've not launched it faster. I have hopes and intentions to get one episode out a week. I'm not gonna have them as long. If you go back to my previous episodes, pretty much all of them were around 45 minutes, some maybe even a little longer. And I did a lot of interviewing people.
a lot I would pick like one topic and debrief. I plan on doing all of those things still, but I don't plan on all the episodes being quite as long. I'm I feel like if I had to guess, there'll be a lot more like 20 minutes. And of course, y'all know you can speed it up even if you wanna just really get something in while you're on your drive to work or while you're working out or you need a little quick something. So I see those episodes being a little bit shorter, the longer ones being
where I'm interviewing someone and we're really diving into their faith, their story, their their gift, their wisdom. I already know someone I absolutely want to interview. I have a couple others on my heart. The other day I was just kind of penciling like what I really see for I don't even want to say this season. I don't see me breaking up into seasons. I see it just being like maybe one big episode of interviewing someone a month and then the others
smaller, my heart, what I'm passionate about, and maybe me on the mic a little bit more. I'm open, I'm open to whatever God wants to do, but I feel like I have a lot to say right now. And that's not in a way of it coming from me. It's like built up passion. It's built up things that I know can help people if they just you know are open to God, if they're open to to growing. So I off the cuff was just I I have like a notepad in my phone.
I have one on my computer. I have like a little notebook. I I too much, too much going on. But I consolidated like all of these different areas. I just, if I have a thought, I'll write it down. And when I consolidated it, I'm like, wow, I already have probably 15 to 20 episodes ready to go right now. I used to prepare a lot more. And when it when there's a topic that I am really learning about, or I don't, I don't feel like
You know, I have a lot of scripture to pull from. I will study it first. Like, you do not have to worry about me coming on here and just being like, here's my opinion. but again, like I I just feel like passion-wise and and wisdom-wise and things, there's just like a lot built up in me over the last couple years, even that God has done in my life. Stories that I want to share. And so I don't see it being like seasons where we're taking some
breaks, I just even with a new baby, I don't I don't see that happening. I think I'm just gonna, you know, on a nap time, pour into you guys and and give this my best. And again, I know that God's gonna feed me through it too. Feel free to share the episodes. Feel free to leave reviews, you know, all the things. Again, I'm really not that techie and that's not why I'm doing this at all. However, I do know logically that is how people
shop for a podcast. That's how people shop on Amazon is, you know, reviews. And if if there's something on your heart or, you know, someone that you can share it with, like go for it, is what I'm saying. Because you d you never know what it turns into. You really don't. One thing also, I'll be honest, I I'm like, ugh, this feels like a little cringy to me, but it's just the truth of the matter. I there's a guy that I follow on YouTube.
I don't watch him all the time, but sometimes I've really when I just need a little something like once a month, we'll listen to him. And he has on his channel like a way to give, a way to support his ministry. And I have before. There was a day that I'm like, this impacted me so much. Like this guy's putting his heart, his soul, his time into this, like God's calling him to this. I'm gonna support it. And and I think that we do feel those prompts sometimes of just to give, to support.
So I am gonna have that set up where if you feel led to support, you can financially. I will tell you I do have a it's definitely not as like rigid and advanced, maybe is the word as it was before, but I do have a team of people that is they're gonna help me basically like get everything live, like take it from recording to getting it on all the platforms and
social media. down the road I have thought about even doing some paid ads to reach people. I'm really just open right now to what God has. Okay. But I will tell you that I'm gonna have a sponsorship option and a partner and just like support the podcast option because there is a lot that goes into it. And while it feels more simple to me now than it was before, my gosh, not even a comparison. I just I just have a different
expectancy of how I want to sew into people's lives with this and vision for how I can make that possible and you know we together can do that more so if you feel led to give at any point I am gonna have that stuff linked on the episodes and that's not to be like any sort of way. I mean like churches obviously do tithing and whatnot. I just yeah I I I feel like that is
gonna allow this to be more effective in some ways. So I wanted to give you that heads up out of the gate. Okay, so
That's pretty much episode one. That's pretty much like, hey, what's new here? let me think if there's anything else. I'll I'll tell you a couple of like quick, quick podcast titles, like things that are coming. One is I've I actually have had people ask me straight up, like, how do you hear from God? Like God told you to start a podcast. What? And again, that was like one of the most intense things that he's ever spoken to me, but I absolutely am going to do a episode on hearing from God. Like what
what it looks like, feels like, sounds like, the experiences like when you have a relationship h with him and when when he's speaking to you, when he's nudging you. So that's definitely one that's coming. one thing that I feel like I've been set free by in so many ways is just confession, understanding confession and telling the truth to God and allowing him to take our most exposed truth and work with it and
you know, hit he knows how to how to hold it, how to deal with it, how to generously guide us through it. So I'm I'm definitely gonna do a episode around telling God the truth and just you being more truthful with yourself even. The episode I'm probably most excited about for the launch here is got how God told Eric and I to start a family. And
what that journey has been like and unfolded and just yeah a lot around that. I did not think that I would have children. that was never a part of Eric and I's plan. And I really miraculously experienced God shift my heart and give me direction on what that was to look like. And so it was a real
Obedience thing for him and I to step out and to get pregnant with our first baby and the specifics and how God has walked us through the last year. It is fascinating. So I'm gonna do an episode around that, but the real topic is how God had ch like changed my heart and the process of that. And I know that I know that I know he wants to deliver people.
And that word is so
Big, vague, maybe. we hear it, God delivers, but I have a real experience with it, and I'm excited to bring you that. I'm gonna do an episode on how to pray for the people that are hardest to pray for in your life. yeah, God's gonna He's gonna give me some wisdom for you ahead of time before I record that one, but I know that that's coming.
I am gonna make one on why I choose to be a part of a church. And I think a lot of people, especially when they're newer with their faith, they have a hesitancy to get involved with the church or which church or I'm not gonna make it every Sunday. I don't wanna like have my attendance calculated. Like there's just so much anxiety and thoughts around church and I
really have just been free of that. Like God has given me a freedom in what all the details of it looks like. But I'm gonna share with you like kind of the reasoning behind church and why I choose to go. Like what I and what I what I benefit from by having a church family. It's not really to talk about me. It's more so to just give you a an extension of what that freedom looks like. I have walked through some really
unexpected things in the last couple weeks, even let alone months, I'll say I'd say the last quarter. And I have never experienced a church family like I have right now. I know it exists. I know that people are close and they're service oriented and they love each other and I like I know that exists out there. Even being a part of a church, guys, I go to church. I am active. I know people I am plugged in.
I serve, I, you know, study with people separate from the actual sermon itself on Sunday mornings. But I have never experienced the love of people like I have recently. And I'm like, you know, I would that this is like a game changer for me right now, and I would not have this had I not had a church family. Like quite literally, the other people in my life who I love and I'm so grateful for, they they they're not capable of.
supporting me in the same way as this church family is. They are who I'm leaning on even and I just wasn't planning for that. So yeah, I'm gonna just expand on that a little bit because sometimes it's just like about church and it's it's just not. It just is not. It is about a relationship with Jesus period and what that looks like. So anyways, I wanted to give you like a little glimpse of kind of what's coming.
I absolutely see motherhood and all sorts of random topics being in the future. I'm I'm an open book. really, I I say that and I am. I'm just like, there's no limits. Like wherever God wants me to take it, whatever he wants me to talk about, I'm I'm totally down. So welcome back or welcome to your first episode of Gratefully Hungry. Very grateful.
For all that has been for the previous episodes. But maybe don't, maybe don't like box me into what was because I again I feel like I've changed a lot in the last couple of years. And I'm a lot more calm about podcasting in general. This is not new for me anymore. I don't have that anxiety of like stepping out and doing something new. I'm also in my home. I also just am in a different place in my faith and I want to pour it out and
You know, the the thing about podcasts, it's always kind of give me a safe place to do that because the people that are here are the ones that want to be here. So it's a lot harder for me to show up like on social media, for instance, in some cases, because like not everybody w is in a place of wanting to grow or learn or listen, right? But if you're here, I know that that is what you are coming for probably. So
Yeah, I'm gonna bring it and I'm just really excited to see what God does with this new launch and season. And yeah, I'm grateful that you're here. So we are grateful for what God's done, and we're hungry that He can do more and He wants to do more, and that's why this is the Gratefully Hungry show. So, welcome to it.
